The sealing and numbering take place before Jesus comes, but before that:
Before the 144,000 are numbered, there are some not-so-happy events that will come about. Are you aware of the omega of apostasy? Ellen White declared more than a hundred years ago:
"Be not deceived; many will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. We have now before us the alpha of this danger. The omega will be of a most startling nature." 1SM 197.
Is the omega with us today? Has it finally come? We are more than a hundred years along in history since the alpha, is it time for us to understand the omega? Can we understand it? Lewis Walton wrote about this alpha in his book of 1981, Omega. In it he shows what the alpha concerned and gives some clues as to what he believes the omega might be. In the newly written book offered below, Omega Now? (2008), the omega is clearly explained.
The Shaking
Not only do we have the omega of apostasy to deal with, we have the shaking of Adventism. Ellen White tells us, "I asked the meaning of the shaking I had seen and was shown that it would be caused by the straight testimony called forth by the counsel of the True Witness to the Laodiceans. This will have its effect upon the heart of the receiver, and will lead him to exalt the standard and pour forth the straight truth. Some will not bear this straight testimony. They will rise up against it, and this is what will cause a shaking among God's people." EW p. 270. The shaking is also dealt with in Omega Now?
Ezekiel and other Old Testament prophecies are important in the last days. Ellen White tells us: "The prophets of God spoke less for their own time than for the ages to come, and especially for the generation that would live amid the last scenes of this earth's history." Signs of the Times, January 13, 1898 " . . . Each of the ancient prophets spoke less for their own time than for ours, so that their prophesying is in force for us." Selected Messages, vol. 3, p. 338.
Read Ezekiel Nine
Ellen White tells us that those who are faithful are those who see the abominations in the "church" and say and do something about them. Then she tells us to read Ezekel nine.
"Who are standing in the counsel of God at this time? Is it those who virtually excuse wrongs among the professed people of God and who murmur in their hearts, if not openly, against those who would reprove sin? Is it those who take their stand against them and sympathize with those who commit wrong? No, indeed! Unless they repent, and leave the work of Satan in oppressing those who have the burden of the work and in holding up the hands of sinners in Zion, they will never receive the mark of God's sealing approval. They will fall in the general destruction of the wicked, represented by the work of the five men bearing slaughter weapons. Mark this point with care: Those who receive the pure mark of truth, wrought in them by the power of the Holy Ghost, represented by a mark by the man in linen, are those "that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done" in the church. Their love for purity and the honor and glory of God is such, and they have so clear a view of the exceeding sinfulness of sin, that they are represented as being in agony, even sighing and crying. Read the ninth chapter of Ezekiel." Testimonies, vol. 3, p. 267. Emphasis supplied.
There is a chapter on Ezekiel 8 & 9 in Omega Now, and it deals with specifics, rather than generalities. The last and most severe of the abominations is the last abomination of Ezekiel eight.
